The last day... For the staff a lot of Sunday goes to organising the deconstruction of the fair. But we still had time to enjoy the last day at the fair and experience its art and happenings!

One of the more spiritual galleries at Supermarket, Candyland from Stockholm, had a session in their booth. A 16-year old visitor got an aura transplantation – a brand new aura that has been cultured in a lab in Ukraine. In the next booth, Daily Temporary (Stockholm) continued their long talks about love in their heavenly decorated trailer.

Ten minutes before closing, Galleria Entropia from Wroclaw gathered visitors and staff to play back a recording of Supermarket that had started on the first day. The recorder was part of an art work, placed on the wall with the tape working its way up over the wall and back down into the recording device. The result was intriguing – a low mumble, voices over voices, speeding up and slowing down.

TALKS included the seminar Life Beyond Budgets – a panel discussion about alternative financial strategies where Nina Palavandishvili, (GeoAIR, Tbilisi), Amy Fee (Dansens Hus, Stockholm) and Kaspars Lielgalvis (Totaldobze, Riga) talked to John W. Fail (Ptarmigan, Tallin) about how arts and culture can look beyond traditional models of financial support. One of the highlights of Red Spot was Dolanbay from Berlin with 'Untitled Singular Act'. Dolanbay, from Grüntaler9, wanted to examine the relationship between materiality and performability. Dressed in a white cotton one-piece with charcoal sticks attached to it, he moved around on a large sheet of white paper, leaving traces and creating patterns. 

We are so happy with this year's fair. The meetings programme has brought many relevant and interesting discussions to the table, the AIM network has expanded, artists from all aver the world have met, talked, exchanged ideas, laughed and partied together. They have met the Swedish audience, that has met the whole world at Supermarket. And most of all – Supermarket has shown fantastic art! Exciting, touching, experimental, gripping, wierd, beautiful and explorative art of all kinds! So THANK YOU to all of the exhibitors, artists and visitors for making this year's Supermarket the best ever!

The Supermarket Staff

The Supermarket storm continued on Saturday. Everywhere you looked there were visitors and artists talking about the art – which makes us happy and proud. Our aim is to create a networking platform where people can meet in a context of creativity.

All of the performances and discussions in the TALKS and Red Spot programme were fascinating, expressive, gripping and, naturally, experimental. TALKS started at 1pm with the presentation ”The Hub of Contemporary Arts in Syria” by AllArtNow director and curator Abir Boukhari and artist and co-founder Nisrine Boukhari. The audience got to know more about AllArtNow's history and current situation as well as hearing how Nisrines’ art projects are formed by living in Vienna with the memories from Syria. It was followed by a contemporary dance performance from OHYRA, Rebekka Aldén's and Julia Benon's energetic and expressive chorepgraphy, in their ”Supernova Extravaganza Show”.

PUMA Scenkonst with Saskia Oljelund on stage, placed in plexiglass, held the audience in its grip throughout the hour-long performance. Her monologes based on the  experience of being a young woman left noone untouched.

The last act was Kristal and Johnnyboys’ ’The Movie’, an experimental act combining phenomenal music with a great dance performance by Kristina Hanses and Jonny Eriksson.

The meetings programme continued as well as the filming and editing of Super TV!

Yesterday Supermarket opened and it was a day full of activity! The doors opened at 11 for the first visitors and they kept coming all day. We got a jumpstart from the coverage by several newpapers and other media, among them DN, SvD, ABC news, Sveriges Radio, Aftonbladet and Expressen.

Some of the highlights during the day:

Konstsoffan – the panel discussion led by KRO with party leaders and culture policy spokespersons was a success! Swedish public television was there filming it and the seminar also generated a debate on Twitter, especially after the representative from Moderaterna (the ruling right-wing party) said politics does not need to focus more on art and culture.... Supermarket adressed Moderaterna and questioned them about this statement. Konstsoffan will be aired on SVT Forum on Feb 21 11:30-13:30, do not miss it!

Dror Feiler continued the political theme with an intriguing "agitation performance" at Red Spot.  Video clips from Ship to Gaza and Israel/Palestine were mixed with political statements and saxophone.

An art piece by Gabriel Parniak from Canadian gallery Ed Video caused quite the stir on internet, generating over 400 comments and nearly 250 000 views on Reddit. We have also seen spontaneous performances and an ongoing live performance in a gallery on the 3rd floor where the artist Matilda Haggärde is building herself into a cocoon of clay.

There have been interesting talks and a lot of networking! Tomorrow we’ll do a summing up of today, day two at Supermarket!

More exhibitors are arriving and Kulturhuset is full of sounds: construction, collaboration and preparation.
