BAST (بسط, meaning ‘to expand’ or ‘to articulate’) is an interdisciplinary collective working across art, activism and research through studies of participatory practices in Iran. Attentive to collective memory and omitted narratives, BAST approaches the archive as a living, process-based entity. At SUPERMARKET 2026, BAST presents ‘Traces of Participation’, featuring five participatory projects by artists and collectives including Negar Farjiani (IR/US), Fatemeh Fazayel (IR) and New Media Society (IR). Shown through zines, texts, photographs and short videos, the presentation operates as a hybrid format – part research display, part participatory platform – reflecting on participation within constrained contexts.
