Billytown is an artist-run initiative located in The Hague (NL). Founded in 2003, Billytown combines a project space with the active identity of an artist-led collective. Billytown now consists of Billytown Bookshop, artist studios, a residency, and a library containing 30.000 artist books (The Archives / Peter van Beveren).

The group show ‘Building for Sale!’ focuses on the place of artist initiatives in the city, pressured by – and bending around – commercialised structures. The artworks refer to each of the six buildings in which Billytown has been located until now and are ‘for sale’ at the fair. ‘Building for Sale!’ presents works produced within the context of a dynamic artist initiative to question the value of space, both in terms of money and imagination.
