The exhibition of the 35m2 gallery presents two young Czech emerging artist Juliana Höschlová and Šimon Kadlčák. They both embrace music field as an inspirational drive and use it with critical approach. The practice of multimedia artist Juliana Höschlová has been recently focused on critique of consumerism using subversive appropriation of its products and within linked ecological sorrow and its mediation through collective karaoke singing of sad pop songs, thus surveying the emancipatory potential of collective activities. Šimon Kadlčák draws an inspiration from psytrance and rave subcultures and in his painting he explores and interprets the visual language of them. His artistic strategies emphasize the imaginary but also stands a critical distance towards image and its agenda. The exhibition at Supermarket 2020, curated by František Fekete and Tereza Záchová from 35m2 gallery will bring them together as a two representatives of how can visual art link with music and shift the means of how popular music and subcultures functions within individual perception and impact of personal growth.
