SAK and P O Ultvedt
A characteristic feature of the Swedish arts scene is the large number of art associations, formed on a non-profit basis, usually by art-loving employees as a way to promote an interest in contemporary art. Sveriges Allmänna Konstförening (SAK) / The Swedish Association for Art is an independent art association, open to everyone with an interest in art. It is Sweden’s oldest art association – founded in 1832.
SAK buys art for its annual lottery and also collaborates with artists who create works specifically for members. Another major annual initiative is the art book or membership artwork. This year, SAK is working with the late Per Olov Ultvedt and will publish an artist book in November. The presentation at SUPERMARKET 2026 offers a small glimpse into Ultvedt’s world.
