Rojal is a publishing project founded in 2012 by bookbinder and artist Olle Essvik and translator and artist Joel Nordqvist. Based in Gothenburg, the initiative functions as a platform for experimentation, collaboration, discoveries, and the distribution of narratives, ideas, objects and images.
Working from a workshop equipped with traditional bookbinding tools and machines, Rojal combines craft techniques with new technology and self-developed methods. The project produces artists’ books, photobooks, multiples, theory and fiction in small, carefully designed and handcrafted editions, developed in close collaboration with artists and writers.
