PHOTOPORT is a civic association which supports young visual artists by creating conditions for their work and its presentation. The goal of the association is to popularize contemporary art by means of publication, organizing workshops, exhibitions, conferences, lectures and establishing contacts with groups of similar focus at home and abroad. The aim of the PHOTOPORT gallery is to create space for the presentation of contemporary work of young beginning authors and for the confrontation with the work of authors from the region of central Europe.
Roman Bicek
"My work reflects my everyday reality, confronted with the seemingly distant images from the media. Ideas and concepts from my Eastern European background mix with more global imagery. I think that there is a feeling of alienation present in my work. I moved frequently all my life so, I feel like a bit of an outsider everywhere. I feel that there is an effort from my side to invent a legitimate place/space for this hybrid way of seeing things, which comes through in my art."
Anna Mária Beňová
The paintings I paint are articulations of corporeality, pleasure, or intimacy, often on the verge of provocation or wit. For me, the mutual relations of female characters in a figurative sense are essential - their expressions, the fictional / real space in which they are placed
