Occupy Space
Limerick, Ireland
Founded in 2009 by the members of Wickham Street Studios and based in Limerick City, Ireland, Occupy Space is a not-for-profit organisation that has established a dynamic programme of exhibitions and events to engage the local audience and to open up a critical dialogue with the wider visual art community. The fundamental objective of the organisation is to provide exhibition opportunities for graduate and emerging artists outside of the context of a commercial gallery space. Occupy Space is operated by a voluntary staff, providing experience in event management, facilitating exhibitions and developing potential for independent curatorial projects.
At Supermarket 2014, Occupy Space will present a video installation by Limerick artist Carla Burns, whose work looks at self-help, self-improvement, and spirituality.
