Köttinspektionen is a non-commercial artist-run art space in Uppsala. The building is originally a meat inspection agency with high ceilings and industrial character, designed in the 1930's. It was built on the edge of town, on the border between countryside and city. Today is it placed on the ledge to one of the most expansive part of Uppsala, Industristaden. Köttinspektionen is a place for something new and vitalising the whole region. Since May 2014, Köttinspektionen houses art from several disciplines such as dance, theater and visual art, where the artist group Haka curates the latter. Köttinspektionen is aiming to be a production and presentation venue, where artists and creators can work in an innovative, experimental spirit. Haka wants to contribute with interesting contemporary art, both national and international, to create a space for new ideas.
