King og Bong is an artist-run space in Reykjavík, Iceland, founded in 2020 by a group of artists fresh out of university dealing with a serious case of post-graduation blues. Frustrated by Covid restrictions and the lack of opportunities for young artists to exhibit their work, the group’s shared studio space in a soon-to-be demolished house in downtown Reykjavík became the host to King og Bong’s first event: a two day festival where musicians, performance artists and any of the group’s friends who wanted to perform could do so. After that the ball started rolling and the group hosted events every other week, including performance events, exhibitions, etc. The space has moved thrice since then, had pop ups in other artist-run spaces across Iceland and curated performance and art events.
