GRAD, European Centre for Culture and Debate, Belgrade, Serbia

GRAD, European Centre for Culture and Debate, known as KC GRAD, was open in April 2009. It emerged on the initiative of the Cultural Front Belgrade and Felix Meritis Foundation in Amsterdam.

The Centre is situated in an old warehouse building, dating from 1884.

It’s located in the old neglected, rundown industrial neighbourhood in the very centre of Belgrade, on the bank of Sava River.

KC GRAD consists of two levels with a space of 397 square meters. It houses a large gallery space, an art library on the upper floor and a café, bar and art shop on the ground floor.

The Gallery program focuses on domestic and international contemporary art. The artistic director and one of two founders of KC GRAD is artist Ljudmila Stratimirovic.

Already after it’s first year, the Gallery has received a status as one of the official Belgrade city's galleries. Once a year KC GRAD announces an open call where artists and curators can apply with their projects. An international jury selects between 10 and 15 projects to exhibit in the official program of KC GRAD Gallery.

In addition to exhibitions KC GRAD organize conferences, debates, workshops, music program and many other activities.

In 2012, KC GRAD will start an Artist In Residence program under the name “Inspired by Belgrade” which will offer artists, photographers, curators, filmmakers, writers and journalist space to work and establish a broader network.

At the Supermarket Art Fair KC GRAD Gallery is proud to present works of three selected artists: Natasa Kokic (Serbia), Aleksandra Stratimirovic (Serbia, Sweden) and Tommaso Bonaventura (Italy) as well as introducing story about KC GRAD with all its activities.
