Stockholm, Sweden
Detroit Stockholm is an artist-run collective with studios and a gallery. Based in Stockholm, Sweden the initiative provides a platform for artists in various disciplines. From exhibitions and art happenings to nomadic performance art festivals and music, Detroit Stockholm holds studios for member artists and an exhibition and project space for invited and member artists.
DETROIT, Stockholm, present "One & Three", an installation by member artist: Emer Ní Chíobháin. The work, made up of three parts; a photo, a sculpture and a print, is reminiscent of Joseph Kosuth's works of the same title where he assembled an object, a photograph of that object, and an enlarged dictionary definition of the object. Ni Chiobhain's work will play with Kosuth's ideas on ideas and his making of meaning.
Her work explores the transmutation of objects and processes into sets of data that can be reconfigured, reinterpreted and reimagined. The central locus of the artist's work is based on ideas of violence through abstraction, de-humanisation, de-personalising and objectification.
