De Ijskast is an artist-run initiative based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, founded in 2022 by Geertje Brandenburg. The initiative supports young artists by providing exhibition opportunities and facilitating the exchange of knowledge. Originally operating from a physical space, De Ijskast now works in a more fluid format, gathering where least expected.
At SUPERMARKET 2026, De Ijskast presents works by Maja Irene Bolier, Simone Schuffelen, Chant van Lieshout and Geertje Brandenburg. Through sculpture, performance, collage and text, the artists engage with the absurd and with questions of visibility, asking who is seeing and who is being seen. The presentation culminates in the question ‘Does our presence at the fair automatically make us a voyeur?’
