Candyland
Stockholm, Sweden
Candyland is a not-for-profit exhibition space in Stockholm, founded in 2004. United by a shared commitment to promoting a broad spectrum of contemporary art, Candyland has produced more than 250 exhibitions since its opening. Operating as a locally rooted platform with diverse audiences, Candyland is also active within international networks, with a particular focus on the development of the artist-run sector.
For this year’s exhibition, Candyland presents an installation by Isolde Berkqvist. ‘Mr. Mathias Seeks Brothers’ unfolds as both a work and a journey, in which the muse Mr. Mathias searches for his brothers while placing the audience in a shared position of testing and observation. A visit to Luton resulted only in a conversation left behind in a book. Elsewhere, the keys are gone. The space is filled with moving boxes, empty address books and a meowing cat that speaks to humans. The next attempt begins here.
