The art association Aura was founded in 1928 in Lund by a group of artists and art lovers with the aim of arousing interest in art. The following year, Krognoshuset, Lund's oldest preserved profane building, became the association's exhibition space. Krognoshuset has continuously shown contemporary art. The aim was, and still is, to arouse interest in and spread knowledge about art. From the start, Krognoshuset has housed two relatively independent parts: partly an artists' group, partly a general art association. Currently, about 60 artists and 400 members are included. Krognoshuset organizes about nine exhibitions a year with both invited artists and members of the artists' group. Many internationally active artists, both Swedish and foreign, have exhibited in Krognoshuset over the years. Krognoshuset is run by the art association Aura with support from the Culture Council and Lund municipality. In 2023, the art association Aura celebrates its 95th anniversary.

Krognoshuset Aura -
95 years of contemporary art in medieval space.

Aura was founded in Lund in 1928 by a group of artists and art friends. Since then
exhibitions are held in Krognoshuset, a medieval building close to the market square and the Art Hall in Lund city centre. Currently, 60 artists and 260 support-members are included. Aura is administered by a board and an employed superintendent. Contemporary art is exhibited by invited Swedish as well as international artists. Lectures, workshops, excursions and other activities are also arranged.

34 artists from the artist group participate in Supermarket 2023 to celebrate our 95 years, in meetings with other artist-driven initatives.

Konstföreningen Aura is sponsored by the Swedish Arts Council and Lund Municipality.
