Alpineum Produzentengalerie
Lucerne, Switzerland
The Alpineum Produzentengalerie, which has been in operation since November 2007, was initiated by ten Central Swiss artists. The gallery contributes actively to Lucerne’s cultural life by offering discourses of debate concerning contemporary art and its practices. The Alpineum organises 9 exhibitions annually in which the artistic positions of the founding members as well as those of invited guest artists from Switzerland and abroad are shown (this guest progamme calls "Alpineum Inn"). Extra activities such as lectures, artist talks, video screenings and performances, often in collaboration with other artist–run initiatives, accompany the exhibitions. In addition, a limited edition of a magazine highlighting the art on view in an individual form is published with each exhibition. Monthly to bimonthly meetings provide the platform for its members to discuss the gallery’s program, its organization, its economic status and to reassess the gallery’s direction.
For Supermarket 2011 the Alpineum Produzentengalerie joins with 3 own artists and an invited guest from Sweden. This guest represents the "Alpineum Inn" as a real statement.
Together they create an onsite installation, with a pair of artwork each. Every couple has a strong visual correlation - kind like magnet fields that connect them.
Since March 2010 the Alpineum Produzentengalerie relocated its venue into the heart of the New Town of Lucerne.
