1646 is a project-space for contemporary art based in The Hague, the Netherlands.
A dedicated space for experimental art practices and ideas, 1646 is a platform for new productions and presentations with a special emphasis on encouraging artists to realise projects on location.
Run by a group of practicing visual artists of different nationalities based in the netherlands, 1646 focuses on working on an international level with both emerging and established artist.
Alongside a calendar of exhibitions, 1646 runs a short term residency for foreign artists/curators, organizes ‘vast-forward’ a video collection project and hosts artists talks, video screenings and lectures.
